God sees you, hears you. Loves you just as you are! Energize your life and discover that God is prepared for your divine interruptions!

Sitting is relaxing. Standing is doing. What does your family stand for? This Fourth of July, we celebrate more than Independence Day. It’s our Interdependence Day. Christ proclaims freedom for all! And until all are free, none are free. Spiritual freedom. Emotional freedom. Physical freedom. Mental freedom. Freedom to enjoy the abundant life in Christ, sins forgiven, hope restored. Let’s stand for something that means everything. Freedom to follow Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God.

As we stand and follow Jesus we will experience success. But, we will also experience failure. We are all interdependent. Dependent on God, of course. But we are all interdependent as a nation, state, community, as with one another. This week, as we gather at the Lord’s Table, we will be inspired by the prophet Elijah and encouraged by Jesus’ disciples as they turn failures into success. What will you do this week as you hear Jesus’ invitation: All. Learn. Stand. Go!

Worship Your Way! In-Person, or Online. Masks are optional for vaccinated worshippers.

We are excited to welcome to worship all who are able and comfortable in-person in our historic Red Brick Church on Sundays at 10:30 AM. Your safety, health, and wellness are our top priority. West Jersey Presbytery approved our session’s re-opening plan and our pastor, staff, and teams have worked hard to prepare for your arrival. Following the guidance from the CDC and health officials, we have implemented safety protocols and designed an approximately forty-minute worship experience that will be spiritually energizing and safe for you, your family, and other worshippers.

Dear online worshipping friends: We apologize in advance should our live stream be interrupted by Facebook. We are working with Facebook and the music publishers to honor our music licenses and resolve these disconnect issues. Any interrupted live stream will be re-launched within a minute or two. Please rejoin as soon as we are back! Thank you for your patience. Pre-registration for in-person worship is encouraged but not required to attend worship. If you’d like to worship in person, you may contact the office at 609-884-4065 or email hello@coldspringchurch.com.

God sees you, hears you. Loves you just as you are! Energize your life and discover that God is prepared for your divine interruptions!

Do you want more or less stress in your life? Of course, less! We seek to reduce distractions and interruptions, even try to eliminate them entirely, believing fewer makes us stronger, when in fact, the opposite can occur. Healthy systems require some stress. Think of bodies without exercise or the downside of overly protective parents. Consider the piano or guitar. Without stress on the strings, music could not be enjoyed. What other “healthy” stressors can you think of?

Jesus knew about stressors in life. He understands your stressors, too. Jesus will not run away or ignore your requests. He sees you, hears you. Just as you are. Loves and receives you at any time of day or night. Whether you are a frequent visitor, or occasional, he never posts a sign, Do Not Disturb. What do you seek from Jesus this week? Get ready for an energizing experience together in person in our beautiful, historic Red Brick Church, or online with Facebook Live. We hope you’ll take a moment to invite others to join you, too. This week, blessings will emerge from divine interruptions!

Energize your life and discover that God does amazing things with the smallest beginning!

We don’t like storms, but we regularly experience them. What kinds of storms do you face? Rain storms can be inconvenient and unpleasant. Severe weather events are dangerous. But we face other kinds of storms, too. Emotional storms. Economic storms. Storms of the mind and body. Spiritual storms. Storms can also look like chaos, confusion, and complexity. This week, our message from God’s word invites us to join the disciples in a boat with Jesus during a storm. Fear gripped them and they wondered, doesn’t Jesus care? Though God does not calm every storm, Jesus can calm us in every storm. This week, who will you invite into your “boat” when you’re stuck in the storms you face? Find out how Jesus is ready to enter the boat of your life, your family, your community, your life past, present and future. It’s time to experience calm in the storm because Jesus cares for you.

Energize your life and discover that God does amazing things with the smallest beginning!

Our worship theme today is how God brings fantastic and unexpected results from seemingly small, easily overlooked beginnings. The message this week centers on Jesus’ parable of how the seed sprouts and grows with little understanding by the planter, who might as well sleep until harvest. The tiny and insignificant mustard seed becomes “the greatest shrub of all” and shelter to the birds seeking cover. We welcome the Rev. Moyer back to the pulpit this week while Pastor Kevin and Melissa are on vacation. Get ready for God to do amazing things in your life that begins with an energizing worship experience this week at Cold Spring Church!

Energize your life and discover the crazy love of Jesus!

You don’t have to use your words to convey meaning. We reveal our thoughts and feelings through body language, facial expressions, and hand gestures. And some of these gestures can be offensive and hurtful, too. We all know the hand signs when we want to sarcastically signal that someone is out of their mind, crazy. You put your finger to your temple and twirl it a couple of times. The modern world didn’t like “circles.” We were all taught to “think straight,” and to “straighten up,” and to “color within the lines.” We like to walk a straight path; after all, it’s the shortest distance between two points, right?

But sometimes, straight lines are not the goal. Think of the benefits of a Japanese Zen Garden (you may have a small garden on your desk). The garden’s owner shapes the sand in mostly wavy contours and circles that bring a sense of clarity, calm, and mindfulness. Perhaps you have walked a prayer labyrinth. You won’t find many straight lines! Why? Because organic, creative, and spiritual life is rarely rigid, linear, or predictable. Think about that!

“Crazy” is a word that denotes nothing scientific. It was one of the Apostle Paul’s favorite words. The word “moros,” we mistakenly translate as “fool,” would be better translated as “crazy,” or “moron.” Paul says that the cross of Jesus is just crazy talk, and those who follow Jesus are crazy, too (2 Corinthians 5:13)!

Crazy is a word that has been used to define Einstein and Picasso, Galileo, and Martin Luther. Harriet Tubman, Marie Currie, Susan B. Anthony, and Martin Luther King, Jr., likewise. All were considered crazy. Five years ago, we would have thought crazy about creating a Messenger RNA vaccine that doesn’t risk people getting sick from the actual virus. Crazy has saved lives!

At one time or another, “crazy” has been used to define almost every social reformer, freedom fighter, inventor, scientist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and trailblazers in business, music, art, and all the sciences. In Steve Jobs’ acclaimed advertising campaign, he praised the innovators and revolutionaries, the so-called misfits, rebels, troublemakers, and those that “have no respect for the status quo.” The Crazy Ones changed the world for the better.

Jesus was no exception to being called crazy. “When Jesus’ family heard what he was doing, they thought he was crazy and went to get him under control” (Mark 3:21). This week, we will consider The Crazy Love of Jesus in Pastor Kevin’s message from Mark 3:20-35. Jesus upends the dominant patriarchal family constrictions of his time, replacing it with a new, truly crazy, understanding of God’s kingdom.
